The National Park Service has published the Draft Environmental Impact
Statement (DEIS) for Elkmont.
You can find a copy at:

According to the Federal Register Notice the NPS Preferred Alterative is "Alternative C" that would
maintain "17 buildings for use as a museum community, including one cabin
granted to a figure prominent in the creation of the National Park, and the
Appalachian Clubhouse for use as a day use facility."
Alternative C would be much too costly and would put the Park in the position
of maintaining buildings for private use. Our preferred alternative is
either the "No Action" Alternative, which would remove the derelict
buildings and return the area to a natural state, or "Alternative A"
which would remove the buildings and encourage the return of native plants.
